Forms “Angel” Network

The Orange County Capital Development Corporation announced the formation of a local individual investor group. This group known as “Orange County Angel Network” is an organization of individual investors dedicated to assisting entrepreneurial companies, who wish to locate in Orange County, in their quest for capital.
At its inception The Orange County Capital Development Corp. will function as the umbrella organization for this activity. It will work closely with the Tech Valley Angel Network (TVAN), a well established investor group, located in Albany, N.Y. which will provide operational support as the organization develops.
The affiliation of TVAN and OCCDC will provide a service to entrepreneurs which is not currently available in Orange County. According to Hannan, “The formation of Orange County Angel Network provides entrepreneurs the opportunity to raise capital in amounts below the thresholds required for institutional venture capital organizations. It provides a vehicle for early revenue companies to begin to expand and develop their businesses to a level where more traditional investment is appropriate.”
In November members of the Albany based organization helped host a meeting of prospective members of the Orange County Angel Network to explain the operation.
